Meet the Team
Jamie Forster – Lead Technician
A wealth of experience…
Jamie is our Lead Technician. He boasts many years in vehicle repair and mechanical experience gained from a variety of roles. He began his career as an apprentice aged 16 at Toyota. When he 17 he enrolled in the Army where he served for 5 years.
On leaving the Army, he returned to his love of engines and machinery. Working for a variety of mechanics and vehicle companies before opening and running his own garage.
Jamie joined Great North Auto Services to bring his vast knowledge and experience of dealerships, to the high street. Along with Richard, they offer a friendly, trustworthy and efficient service.
Leading by example…
Jamie says. “Great North Auto Services is proving itself to be a leading garage in the local area. And we believe in dealing directly with the customers from start to finish and building a lasting, trusted relationship.”
He uses his experience of running his own garage to know what makes a garage successful.

And when the workshop is closed…
Jamie lives with his partner Katy and between them, they have a family of seven children! So there’s never a dull moment! As well as mechanics and engines, Jamie loves motorbikes. He loves being in the great outdoors with his family and if he wasn’t busy working at Great North Auto Services, he would be found out farming.
Richard Walton – Vehicle Technician and MOT Tester
A wealth of experience…
Richard joins the Great North Auto Services team as our Vehicle Technician & MOT Tester from Land Rover, Ripon, where he held the same position. He brings with him 37 years’ industry experience. Covering all aspects of vehicle repair from servicing, engine and gearbox strip down to high-level diagnostic work.
Starting his career as a vehicle technician within Ford dealerships, Richard then continued his career at Toyota and then Nissan, where he was Master Technician and workshop controller for 5 years.
We are excited to be able to utilise Richard’s excellent dealership experience, bringing those skills to our workshop. Richard also brings with him a solid, down to earth, jargon free attitude.
Leading by example…

Richard is married to Yvonne and has two children, Andrew and Amy. He enjoys taking his two spaniels to the river, cycling and a McDonald’s milkshake! His would-be drive is a Ferrari, in red of course – as long as it doesn’t break down, but then he would enjoy fixing it up again!
